Mindful that I will not be here forever (what?), I felt that it’s time to find an Associate whom I can mentor in the profession I have so loved for many years.
Finding a new orthodontist has been a very important and serious process for me. I wanted the doctor to have a personality and sense of humor similar to mine. That orthodontist needed to be bright and more knowledgeable than me in current orthodontic techniques and treatment options. I believe I found that person in Dr. Rhina Marquez, who becomes my new Associate in the next week or so.
There are several reasons that Dr. Marquez is my choice: She was first in her dental school class. She has participated in a number of internships and residencies, including cleft lip and palate studies. She has also participated in dental research and published papers pertaining to dentistry. Her hands on experience includes private practice dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. She then got smart and applied to orthodontic school! While earning her degree she also taught orthodontics to undergrads.
Dr. Marquez speaks three languages fluently – English, Spanish and French – so her communication skills are very versatile. She is married and in her spare time, Dr. Marquez enjoys volleyball, dancing and playing the piano.
As I have always loved to teach and learn, I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Marquez. I’m sure we can teach each other a thing or two. (Well, except for a new language. I have enough trouble with English!) We’re all very excited for you to meet Dr. Rhina Marquez at your next visit!
Sincerely,
Michael A. McCombs, DMD, MS
